(This is the same information as was previously translated). On Sunday night, March 13, at 8pm there will be a presentation of
"Escenarios que vino del Mar" (Lit. Scenes that came from the Sea), and
every Sunday at 8pm there will be artistic activities as part of the
Noches de Pueblo Magico program. This program will present singing,
music, dance, theater, performance art, and other artistic expressions
to enrich the cultural life of the island. Those who are interested in
performing can go to the Casa de Cultura, downtown on Abasolo, or they
can call 877 0767 or email culturaislamujeres@gmail.com.
There was also an announcement for the the 2016 Young Artists program, which was recently published and will remain open until May 4, 2016. Those
wishing to know the general rules of entry with detailed information on
the requirements, documentation, dates, features and amount of the
scholarship, can find it at: http://fonca.cultura.gob.mx.

"El Muemar" is a traveling installation designed to promote the marimba to the next generation and foster an appreciation for its sounds. The tent (carpa) has traveled to various town around the country and inside is an exhibition that demonstrates the importance of this musical instrument thru the use of video creations, music, interfacing, and samples of the ancient instruments that inspired and preceded the marimba. Attendees will be taken on a trip through time and geography while learning about the history of this indigenous instrument from Chiapas.
March 15-19 (Tuesday - Saturday) 11-3 and 5-8. Inauguration Tuesday, March 15 at 7p. Free.
El MUEMAR es una instalación itinerante que ha sido diseñada para retomar y promover el fervor por la sonoridad de la marimba a las nuevas generaciones. La carpa que se traslada por varias ciudades de la República, aguarda en su interior una exposición que refleja la importancia de este instrumento mediante de video creaciones, música, interfaces y una muestra de instrumentos inspirados en antiguos precedentes de la marimba.
Lo anterior, permite a los asistentes realizar un viaje geográfico por el tiempo y la historia de este instrumento autóctono de Chiapas.

Stroll five minutes southward down the coastal sidewalk to Mango Cafe, Bahama Mama, Brisas, or Manolitos. Walk less than 10 minutes southwest to shop at Chedraui or to dine at Green Verde, Kash Kechen Chuc, or other options. Visit marinas, bars, & beach clubs that are minutes away by bike or on foot. Our guests recommend the Yoga classes a couple villas away at hotelito Casa Ixchel. Fresh juice, produce & tortillas a few blocks away in the village, as well as a variety of other stores and small local restaurants.
