Isla Verde campaign continues successfully with cleaning and painting in colonia La Gloria, starting at the Senior Citizens Park. City employees conduct this campaign weekly, cleaning streets, sidewalks and public areas, painting curbs, and removing debris and trash. Residents have been assisting in these efforts to improve the image of the island for the benefit of visitors and inhabitants.

Navy begins annual summer vacation "Salvavidas 2019 Operation" which will take place July 6-August 25 in order to provide security and surveillance to protect the national and international vacationers who visit the main tourist destinations of Mexico during the holiday season. This operation takes place on the tourism beaches at the destinations where the most people visit on both coasts of the country. It includes the installation of first aid stations.
   Advice from the Navy:
Don't enter the sea after having eaten food, alcoholic beverages, or both.
Try to swim in areas where lifeguards are located.
Don't neglect children on the beach.
Use sunscreen if you will be exposed to the sun for a long time.
    Drink water constantly to hydrate.
Respect the instructions of the lifeguards.
Don't swim in areas where there is maritime traffic (boats or jet skis).
When lifejackets are required; check that it is appropriate for each activity and that it fits your needs (vests that are used for boats, "bananas" and parachutes have different characteristics).
In case of traveling in smaller boats (boats), observe that it is not overloaded.
Don't obstruct access to beaches and allow free access to patrols and ambulances.
    Don't litter on the beaches.

A red and black 125cc Honda motorcycle was found in the Salina Grande lake and reported to the municipal police by people who were walking along the path around the lake. Police came to the scene immediately and removed the vehicle from the water. It was intact with nothing missing, so there are assumptions that it was a matter of revenge, rather than robbery and done to damage the motorcycle. This occurred before noon and at that time the owner wasn't known since it hadn't been reported.   LINK

The Barracuda Fishing Tournament is today, with a scooter for first prize, TV's for second and third, and cash for fourth and fifth places. It's sponsored by the political party PRI with a DJ & other activities starting at 11am (probably at Playa Centro). Up to 100 boats were anticipated to register, and the competition began just now at 9a. (It doesn't say what time weighing-in closes. The video at Noti says they expect up to 80 boats and that it would begin at 8a) LINK
