City government joins in fight against children's cancer LINK
Visitors and residents are encouraged to deposit plastic caps in the heart shaped collection container at Playa Centro downtown, which will be used by "Banco de Tapitas", a nonprofit organization, to assist young people and children suffering from cancer. This also helps keep the beaches and streets clean of plastic caps which can pollute.
Gas cylinder exchange on Saturday
The exchange of 10, 20, and 30 liter propane tanks will take place in front of the offices of the municipal Department of Economic Development in colonia la Gloria starting at 9am.

Naval rescue of two people aboard a boat LINK
A call was received from the catamaran "Dzul Taap II" which was bound for the United States when it sank 30 nautical miles (56 km) northeast of Isla Mujeres due to a problem with the cooling system of its motor, and the crew were aboard a Dingy. The Navy sent out a Search and Rescue boat and an MI-17 helicopter, and the two men were rescued and brought to the Naval dock. They were assessed and found to be in good health and left by their own means.

Firefighters of the municipal Department of Civil Protection put out a fire in an empty, trashy lot in colonia Lol Beh this morning (Thursday) after receiving a call around 5:40am. The Director of the agency noted that in December there is a greater chance of fires because of the misuse of fireworks, and he asked that they not be used during the holidays, to avoid accidents.

The price of the corn flour used for tortillas hasn't increased since February, when the last increase was 5.5%, therefore no increase in prices are expected for the beginning of 2019. However, tortilla manufacturers are facing an increase of 15% in electrical costs and adjustments in the price of propane, which decreased last month by 63 cents per liter. The prices haven't changed for the safety course required by Civil Protection or the First Aid course from the Red Cross, which are each 500 pesos.They also must pay 350 pesos to PROFECO for verification of their scales, which occurs twice yearly.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tonight is the peak of the Geminid meteor shower, which is considered one of the best & "most reliable", because the individual meteors are bright, and they come fast and furious. With the quarter moon setting at midnight this year, more than 100 per hour may be visible, depending on the level of light pollution. Space.com advises giving your eyes 20 minutes to adjust & to lean back and take in the whole sky, since they can appear anywhere, traveling away from that point. Some meteors may be visible as early as 9-10p, but the most can be seen around 2a.

Within ten minutes walk are a variety of restaurants including Mango Cafe, Brisas, Manolitos, La Chatita, Green Verde, Kash Kechen Chuc, and the large department store-grocery , Chedraui. Visit marinas, bars, & beach clubs that are minutes away by bike or on foot. Attend Yoga classes a couple villas away at hotelito Casa Ixchel. Fresh juice, produce & tortillas a few blocks away in the village, as well as a variety of other stores and small local restaurants. It takes 20-30 minutes to walk downtown.

The other schedule shows events by the private groups in her honor at their facilities. The confirmations are at the church on Wednesday, Dec. 5 at 7pm.
"Toro Goal" events at the "Plaza de Toros y Feria" in Amplification La Gloria are where two teams of audience members get a small bull to chase them between chairs for goals. Regarding event tonight (Saturday) at 7p, Isla Mujeres al Dia says: Organizers have told us that they do not kill or mistreat the bulls, it will be good to go and see in what manner the event takes place. The stadium is in Amplificacion La Gloria (along the coastal road, just north of Isla 33).
