State Youth Conference/Consultation in each municipality
This state Youth program “Diseña el Rumbo”/ Design the Way  is beginning in Isla Mujeres and will continue in the other ten municipalities of the state. The program has four principles:
  •  Youth with Opportunities on the themes Education, Employment, Entrepreneurship, and Housing:
  •  Healthy Youth on the themes of Health, Culture, and the Environment;
  • Citizen Youths on the themes of Citizen Participation, Conferences, and  Common Spaces; and
  •  Inclusive Youth on the themes of Respect, Tolerance, and Dialogue.
     This program will take place throughout the state from May 8 to 19. Local and state officials spoke about the importance of youth programs such as this and their support for them, allowing youths to identify problems and propose solutions, and permitting their participation in the design of public policies which affect young people.

Turtle conservation workshop
A workshop took place in the facilities of the House of Culture of Isla Mujeres and brought together authorities, individuals, and others who are interested in sea turtle conservation and protection, led by the director of Environment and Municipal Ecology, Carlos Barranco García , and the director of Tortugranja, Mar Deline Guadalupe García Canto. It was the Workshop of Participatory Management of the State Committee for the Protection, Conservation and Management of the Marine Turtle in Quintana Roo (CETMQROO).
       "Unfortunately the sea turtle is an animal that is very sought after  by man. All species are in danger of extinction, although some more than others. Therefore, the municipal president of Isla Mujeres, Juan Carrillo Soberanis, has made a great commitment to encourage, support, and carry out actions aimed at protecting them, " said Sr. Barranco.
    The president of CETMQROO, Lucelly G. Ramos, invited the general public to take care of the beaches and keep them free of garbage and other objects during this spawning season of sea turtles, which runs from May 1 to October 30th.
            "Of the seven species of turtles in the world, four come to Quintana Roo.  Our state is very rich in regard to biodiversity  and that is why we ask state residents and foreigners to respect the turtle's environment and to join in the actions we do for their conservation, "concluded Sra. Ramos.

Consulting youths around the state
Consulta Estatal Juvenil “Diseña el Rumbo”é.. [+] Ver masFull article at this link
   In the development of tourism in Isla Mujeres, the participation of young people is fundamental, who will occupy important position in the big hotels, with projections in upcoming years to construct 30,000 hotel rooms on the mainland area of Punta Sam-Isla Blanca, in coordination with the promoters of this vision of growth in the upcoming decade.
    With the aim of encouraging the participation of the island's youth, the State Commission for Youth and Sports (CODUJEQ) brought the program "“Diseña el Rumbo”/ Design the Way to Isla Mujeres and it will take place throughout the state.
         The youths will design development projects according to the potential of each region. In the case of Isla Mujeres, this is tourism and its planned development, with growth focused on the mainland part of the municipality, since real estate on the island has been nearly saturated. The first three thousand hotel rooms already exist, with that figure expected to triple by the end of the decade, and sustained growth is projected to continue, according to some advisors.
         The program which began on Monday and will take place in all 11 municipalities of the state has four principles:
  •  Youth with Opportunities on the themes Education, Employment, Entrepreneurship, and Housing:
  •  Healthy Youth on the themes of Health, Culture, and the Environment;
  • Citizen Youths on the themes of Citizen Participation, Conferences, and  Common Spaces; and
  •  Inclusive Youth on the themes of Respect, Tolerance, and Dialogue.
     Local and state officials spoke about the importance of youth programs such as this and their support for them, allowing youths to identify problems and propose solutions, and permitting their participation in the design of public policies which affect young people, for the improvement of Isla Mujeres and the state of Quintana Roo.

      Felipe de la Cruz Sandoval visited the island to speak about the caravan planned in the southeast of Mexico June 20-26 in protest of the disappearance of the 43 students from Iguala  in 2014, and he spoke in opposition to the politics of the current president.
      He said the caravan will travel through Chiapas, Tabasco, Campeche, Yucatan and Quintana Roo.  On June 25 & 26 there will be about 50 parents and students of the Normal Rural School of Ayotzinapa in Cancun.
       He is a spokesman for this movement and was accompanied by Jose Pech and councilman Roberto Martinez. He called for social mobilization to demand justice as a means of peaceful pressure to raise awareness among the Mexican people, and to effect change through voting. (Editor's note: Foreigners in Mexico are prohibited from involvement in Mexican politics by the Mexican constitution)

Half a century of rescuing sea turtles
Medio siglo al rescate de la tortuga marina.. [+] Ver masFull article at this link
  This article has the same information as the translation in the City section, noting also that systematic protection of sea turtles in Isla Mujeres began in the 1960's when Gonzalo Chale started rescuing and moving eggs  and continued from 1965 to 1995, when his health failed. The municipal government has participated for less than two decades, when the Tortugranja took over, before it was under the responsibility of a very successful environmental organization, and since then tourism has arrived to the site and provides financing for the project.
