All islander students who live and study in Valladolid can use the free WIFI and printing. LINK
A pet sterilization campaign is taking place in the Continental Zone at Rancho Viejo by "Isla Animals" and "Pet Zone", in coordination with the municipal government, on Nov. 14-20. During last year's campaign, 1124 animals were sterilized, and a similar number are expected to be sterilized this year.
The Harbor Master advised boats under 40 feet to return to port at 6pm because Cold Front #13 was advancing rapidly, and nautical tourism activities would be suspended after 10p until further notice. The nautical community was advised to monitor weather advisories and official notifications.

On Thursday, the port was open but the heavy rain discouraged tourism. Merced Ortiz Maya, director of Civil Protection, said there were no incidents and the Salina lake levels remained at normal levels. Taxi drivers noted that the Mobility Institute requires their cabs to meet safety standards such as having air bags and being manufactured in 2014 or since, but golf carts that are rented to tourists don't have similar safety requirements. A driver commented that it was once rare for carts to turn over, but now it has become common, because now the rental agencies "fix" the vehicles to go much faster, so that they travel 20kph or faster. He said the carts should be required to have seat belts, directional signals, and side mirrors, and they shouldn't be allowed to go so fast, because that makes them susceptible to tipping over.Fishermen benefited from bad weather

The Cold Front #12 caused fish and lobster to move closer to the island, allowing fishermen to catch them without traveling far from the island, which saved them expenses on fuel. They were able to catch the lobster with nets, without any risk of decompression. The lobster fishermen left early and returned after catching 30 to 40 each, while other fishermen returned with good catches of lizeta, which they sold within an hour, after most were fileted for the waiting customers.Although it wasn't a strong cold front, it had a beneficial influence. One fishermen said, “Now at this season of the year, when the nortes begin, we begin to see ourselves more favored, from November to February are the best months, especially December and January, usually they are times of constant nortes, sometimes the port closes for several days and we cannot go to work, but generally after a closure, many lobsters come out a lot.” Another fisherman said, "You have to take advantage of these days, the lobster are coming and now it costs less work to capture it, you can cast nets and wait for it to come out, without so many risks."

There is usually a Cabalgata parade of horses and a "bullring" set up (bullfights have been banned in Mexico), where there are rodeos and comedic bullfights, as well as folklorico dance performances and a night or two of live music & dancing on the Town Square.
