Fortunately, there were only material damages in this accident (three photos) involving a rental golf cart and a scooter which occurred when they were traveling north on Medina near Comejin restaurant (near the whale shark monument). The cart made a U-Turn without regard to the motorcycle coming from behind it, and witnesses said the cart driver was at fault. Vehicles were taken to the police station to determine responsibilities. The headline says "One more/Another one" because this is a common type of accident on the isle.
VIDEO at the ferry terminal with an interview with the APIQRoo Director of the terminal. Passengers became annoyed after waiting for an hour for the Ultramar ferry to arrive and then a smaller boat arrived which couldn't accommodate them, causing further delays. The caption says waiting passengers removed the belt-barriers and went out on the pier to board the ferry. The Director says there was a lack of communication from Ultramar about the delays. Comments say people became angry when Ultramar staff members, who were young, went to the front of the line where the elderly and disabled people are given priority.

Following the robberies that occurred Sunday night at a tourist hotel in Sac Bajo and one at the southern part of the island, the Municipal police are collaborating with the investigation by the state Attorney General to determine the facts and prosecute those responsible, said Mayor Juan Carrillo Soberanis. He added that limited information is being released to avoid affecting the ongoing investigation, noting that evidence indicates the same people were involved in both crimes.When he was asked about the need for the presence of the National Guard, he responded that there are not enough personnel with that agency to deploy in this municipality, but there is communication with the state officials to coordinate the prevention of future armed robberies. (There is a newish National Guard facility located on the mainland part of the municipality.) The Mayor was interviewed following Wednesday's Revolutionary Day Parade.
In a previous interview, the Police Chief said the investigation indicates that those responsible for the robberies arrived by boat, and returned to the mainland after the crimes. He said it is thought that some of the vehicles used in the crimes have been identified, but said information on the investigation is held by the Prosecutor's office. He denied rumors that a large number of police officers have resigned, and said there were four recent resignations.
On Tuesday afternoon, about forty business owners held a private meeting to assess the negative impact of the latest violent event, causing damage to the island's image and fear among the winter visitors. They agreed to send two requests for more security measures, one to the Governor of the state and one to the President of Mexico. They announced they will reinforce their security measures with the installation of more cameras and alarms. One of the attendees said, "Now, more than ever, we must be united in order avoid having more affects on the image of this destination; to urge the government at its three levels to act accordingly in matters of insecurity that impact this location,"
They have already been in contact with frequent visitors from the last 20 years expressing their concern and willingness to draw up a letter to President Donald Trump, to urge his Mexican counterpart (President Andrés Manuel López Obrador) to guarantee the lives of the thousands of Americans who will spend this winter in the destinations of the Mexican Caribbean, especially in Isla Mujeres.

The Festival for the Town Saint, Our Lady of Immaculate Conception will begin sometime around the weekend of Friday, Nov. 29 and continue thru her day on Dec. 8th. There is usually a Cabalgata parade of horses and a "bullring" set up (bullfights have been banned in Mexico), where there are rodeos and comedic bullfights, as well as folklorico dance performances and a night or two of live music & dancing on the Town Square.
