Every morning from 5am to 10am, a crew of workers cleans the beaches to comply with international standards that attract tourism and, in turn, benefit the economies of families. They remove the trash and sargasso, and rake and sift the sand.
The director of ZOFEMAT (Federal Zone agency) in Isla Mujeres, Kerem Pinto Aguilar, said, "It is a priority of the City administration to preserve the good image of the tourist attractions of Isla Mujeres, since tourism is the main source of income that directly benefits the islanders. It is important that the citizenry and government work together to take care of our island's environment."
It is noted that the beaches of Isla Mujeres, North Beach, Playa Centro,and Playa Albatross have received international recognition for their high quality and services, with the distinctive Blue Flag certification from July 2019 to 2020, thanks to the work done by the current municipal administration, led by Mayor Juan Carrillo Soberanis.

The Harbor Master restricted small boats to port for two days due to the windy weather, and then the winds decreased and whale shark tours resumed on Monday. On Thursday afternoon, the Maritima vehicle ferry "Isla Blanca" discontinued service between the island and Punta Sam, after it had a mechanical failure. Their other ferry, "Sergio Gracia Aguilar" has been in need of repairs, now they are anchored in the bay together. More information should be available on Tuesday, regarding whether the company will definitively discontinue service. Their ticket office remains open, with a notice that there will be no service until further notice.Meanwhile, the Ultracarga II and Ultracarga III continue to operating on this route.

With two more weeks until the start of summer vacation, the buoys bordering the two main swimming beaches of Isla Mujeres have been reinforced. It is noted that the size of the swimming area of Playa Centro hasn't been decreased this year, with the southern winds, as occurred last year, to the point where the buoys came to be on the sand. Fine dining a few steps away at Da Luisa or try the neighborhood eateries a couple blocks farther. Within ten minutes walk are a variety of restaurants including Mango Cafe, Brisas, Manolitos, La Chatita, Green Verde, Kash Kechen Chuc, and the large department store-grocery , Chedraui. Visit marinas, bars, & beach clubs that are minutes away by bike or on foot. Attend Yoga classes a couple villas away at hotelito Casa Ixchel. Fresh juice, produce & tortillas a few blocks away in the village, as well as a variety of other stores and small local restaurants. It takes 20-30 minutes to walk downtown.

In June, fishermen in this region are banned from catching Lobster, Octopus, Shrimp, Conch & Shark Lobsters kept in captivity continue to be available, along with frozen tails. LINK
The baseball games at the El Pescador stadium in front of Chedraui are usually held on Sundays, starting around 1p, when there's a 'home' game. .

Turtle nesting season continues throughout June. The turtles nest along the eastern beaches in the wee hours of the night and Tortugranja staff and volunteers gather the eggs and incubate them in a pen outside the facility. Three species nest annually in Isla Mujeres; Greens, Loggerheads, and Hawksbills, and very rarely, a Leatherback will attempt to nest, but the sand usually isn't deep enough. The sex of the turtles is determined by the temperature of the sand, which is common in reptiles.

Whale shark tour season continues throughout June, ending in mid-September.
Saturday June 1 & Sunday June 2: "Dry Law" is in effect for 48 hours, from the first minute on Saturday (00:00, just after Friday midnight) until midnight on Sunday (24:00) when "To Go" (package) sales of alcohol is prohibited. Foreigners in tourism areas, such as Isla Mujeres, may purchase alcoholic beverages, with food, at bars & restaurants. Citizens can't buy alcohol & businesses such as convenience stores cannot sell it.
Saturday, June 1 Clean Up with Accion Isla 8a-10a Meet up north of the gas station
Saturday, June 1st Dia de la Marina. Events begin with a 5 kilometer race in men's and women's divisions, and another for teens and children, starting in front of Playa Centro at 7am and 8am, with more than 17,000 pesos in cash prizes. Limited to 150 runners in the 5k, and 150 in the youth and children's event.
The official ceremony for National Dia de la Marina will take place at 11am, with a procession of boats in the Bay and placing of a wreath.
On Playa Centro, a beach soccer tournament will start at 11am, with teams of eight people and prizes of 3000, 2000, and 1000 pesos. It will be followed by a beach volleyball tournament at 1pm with teams of two men & two women competing for prizes of 3000, 2000, and 1000 pesos.The festivities will come to a close at 2p, with a Palo Encebado contest.
