A video by Noti Isla Mujeres of more docking tests for the Ultramar Ultracargo II. The reporter says it may be in operation in ~15 days. Originally, Ultramar said the big boat in the background with the arches, the Ultracargo III, would operate on the Isla Mujeres-Punta Sam route. However, recently it was reported that there is a problem with its draft and underwater obstacles in the docking area putting its hull at risk, and that the Port Authority said it was Ultramar's responsibility to resolve the problem. The Ultracargo I & II had orignally been scheduled to operate on the Cozumel-PDC route.

TVIM reports: On Sunday, members of the International Rescue Brigade of Cancun were practicing on the cliffs of Punta Sur, in coordination with Isla Mujeres firefighters of our Civil Protection agency. Emergency Coordinator Enrique Ochoa Delgado explained that it is important to perform training exercises and rescue drills to save people who fall off these types of cliffs. He said the theories must be put into practice so that everyone understands the techniques. Thirty-two people participated, including those in training and rescuers who are already certified.     Thousands of tons of accumulated trash were removed from the Trash Transfer Facility before the beginning of the winter high season, but now trash has accumulated during and after the Easter holiday period, which is causing complaints about odors. Officials explained that there have been difficulties with transporting the trash to the mainland landfill. There is not always space for the large trucks on the ferry to Punta Sam, and there have been mechanical problems with the trucks, and they say the fleet needs replacements.

From their FB page:
For the third year in a row, Action for Isla is happy to announce that we will be hosting our big Earth Day Clean-up, to bring awareness of this problem to our residents, and unite our community to work towards Ending Plastic Pollution. We will be tackling the waste build up on both land and sea with an in-water Dive Against Debris and simultaneous beach clean up!
🌎In 2016, 62 volunteers got together to remove 650kgs of waste from our beaches and seas, last year both numbers grew with 148 people collecting and sorting a whopping 1,090kgs of trash!! This year we hope to go even bigger! And we need your help!
📌Our 3rd Annual Isla Mujeres Earth Day Clean Up is this Sunday, APR 22!
✳️Scuba Diver´s please sign-up ASAP with a participating dive shop to receive your safety briefing and instructions.
✳️Snorkelers report to registration at Av. Rueda Medina near Velazquez Restaurant/Playa Centro at 8:15AM. We have some gear to share but if you have your own please bring it.
