It says that the taxi drivers acted together in group as seen in the video, since they were more than five vehicles parked in front of the Uber vehicle that is being attacked.
It says that while authorities are working  on the municipal regulations so that the Transit authorities can fine the Uber drivers up to 62 thousand pesos if they are caught providing service, on the grounds of not having a concession, the unionized taxi drivers have taken justice into their own hands. The video and photographs are being circulated on the internet, causing angry responses, and concerns about the effect of this incident on tourism.   LINK    VIDEO

There are videos of the procession on land and then by boat to Isla Contoy with the Virgin of Caridad del Cobre, followed by a Mass at the Chapel there, with about a thousand islanders participating.  VIDEO

The call to renew the leadership of the taxi drivers of Isla Mujeres, which was scheduled for Sept. 16 will be postponed until the end of September. This should be confirmed over the next two days. One of the main organizers, Miguel Chan Mena, faces a distraction, because his wife has a serious health problem which caused them to go to Merida, where she is hospitalized. In addition to controversy over the leader of 13 years, there is also unrest concerning concessions which were granted by the government, which they say are displacing 100 operators who have been working with the union for eight years or more in the Continental Zone and a much larger number on the island.
