Preparing for Reenactment of the Passion of Christ

 Prevén dos representaciones

Lanrry PARRA

ISLA MUJERES, 3 de marzo.-
About six years ago, the Catholics began conducting two performances of the Passion of Christ and his Death on the Cross, with one group associated with the downtown church of Our Lady of Immaculate Conception, and the other with the Sacred Heart of Jesus church in colonia La Gloria. These two activities were carried out separately, with the La Gloria reenactment in the morning and the downtown reenactment at noon. This year there are plans for just one reenactment of the Via Crucis, with participation by actors from both churches. There will be a press conference on Friday to explain the details.
This year, unofficially, there are plans to stage a longer performance, starting at the Sacred Heart church in colonia La Gloria, and proceeding to the downtown church of Our Lady of Immaculate Conception. Since the route is nearly double the distance, it is anticipated that the actor representing Jesus will need to be better prepared physically than in previous years.

Concern among fishermen over pending deadline for obtaining boat motors

Corren riesgo de perder o pagar de más por motores fuera de borda contemplados en programa de apoyo

Lanrry PARRA

ISLA MUJERES, 3 de marzo.-
The president of the Quintana Roo Federation of Fishing Cooperatives, Baltazar Gomez Catzin, explained that there is a deadline of Wednesday, March 9 to finalize the transactions to purchase outboard motors under the Federal assistance program. The government has not released the funds yet, and fishermen are concerned that if the deadline is not met, the price that was previously agreed upon with the Yamaha dealer will be increased, due to changes in the exchange rate for dollars. He said there is about eight million pesos that must be paid, of which about two million comes from the fishermen themselves, which they have been paying in recent weeks.
