Today the statistics for Isla Mujeres are unchanged with 226 positives, 20 deaths and 189 recovered. On the national map for 12/3, the municipality reports 124 negatives and 152 suspicious. The geoportal still has data for 12/3 and reports one active case in colonia El Canotal.

Tomorrow, Dec. 5th, the "tianguistas fijos" (similar to a flea market/bazaar--a covered, open-air market with fixed booths) will reopen their booths with sanitary protocols for entry including sanitizing gel, mandatory, correct use of face masks and healthy distancing. City officials met with the tianguistas to discuss these protocols to care for everyone's health and reopening for economic recovery.

The Productive Tourist Program of Isla Mujeres "Adventura Ixchel" was implemented and its Management Board was sworn in by the municipal Director of Tourism, Gustavo Rodriguez Orozco, representing the Mayor. This is part of the strategic work being done to maintain the momentum and consolidation of Isla Mujeres as a very safe tourist destination, with a modern, competitive and orderly administration that offers its inhabitants the conditions for a worthy, safe and peaceful life and a unique and enriching experience to its visitors. He said the economic recovery of the municipality is on a good course, reactivating in an orderly and responsible manner, and that the tourism service providers and business sector must continue to do well. He said, ′′We have a mix of youth and experience which will definitely bear fruit and be very productive for our municipality which is reactivating responsibly."He also spoke about the importance of the various public and private sectors working together toward a sustained, dynamic and lasting economic growth, raising the quality of life for the islanders.
In addition to swearing-in the members of the Board, they conducted a workshop in coordination with FONATUR on Methodology for the formation of tourism investment projects.
The municipal representatives for the 5th Quintana Roo Youth Congress were chosen. They are Abileni Patron Pech, who will represent the municipality in youth congress, with a proposed bill on the disclosure of human rights, and Karla Torres Paredes, will do so in the internal meeting of the Electoral Institute of Quintana Roo (IEQROO), with a proposed bill on special education issues, encompassing inclusion.

Public events have been suspended due to C-19. Holidays have featured online competitions and events.
The
usual Patron Saint festivities from late November until her Día de la
Inmaculada Concepcion on December 8th are suspended, but the priest will
celebrate a Mass with a holy rosary each day for each of the groups and
organizations, according to a schedule.

Dec 13-14 Peaking of the Geminid meteor shower--This is one of the two
best showers of the year (the other is August Perseids). The sky will be
dark all night (new moon) & the largest numbers will be visible
around 2a (when the radiant point is highest in the sky). But you should
see them from mid evening until dawn, weather permitting. There should
be a 'smattering' of meters the nights before & after, and it builds
to a peak the week before. This shower features meteors that tend to be
bold, white and quick, with up to 50-150 per hour when peaking in
optimal conditions, like this year's moonless sky. On Dec. 11,12,13, the
slender lunar crescent and planet Venus will rise in the eastern sky at
or near dawn.
Posadas Navidenas Dec 16-24 will presumably be suspended along with the two decorated Caravans.
