Avoiding heat stress during the "Dog Days" of summer
The director of the Community Hospital, Miguel Angel García Albarrán offered advice about avoiding heat stress during this ~40 day period when temperatures are increased and heat is excessive, known as the 'canicula' (dog days). Symptoms that precede 'heat stroke' include irritability, intense thirst, and restlessness, and indications of dehydration include increased pulse, weakness, and changes in blood pressure. These symptoms require timely intervention by medical personnel. Preventative measures include staying hydrated and avoiding exposure to the sun during the heat of the day between 11am and 2pm, when possible. Fence removed from beach
Desmontan la barde en Playa Centro [+] Ver masFull article at this link
The fence that was erected by a hotel at Playa Centro was 100 feet long, and its removal was ordered on Monday. It invaded part of the 20 meters of the Federal Zone. It was ordered that no one should enclose the land reclaimed from the sea. The fence has been dismantled and may not be reconstructed, to respect free passage along the land reclaimed from the sea which was leased to the hotel "Privilege Aluxes".
In other areas outside of this busy beach, there are many beaches that have fences blocking the 20 meters of Federal Zone, which can be seen in Sac Bajo and along the road to Garrafon. Por Esto says this is an issue needs to be addressed by the municipal department of Urban Development and the Environment, noting that residents say regulations should be applied to everyone.
