The Director of Municipal Health, Leily Osorio, encouraged parents to take their children to the doctor for a medical checkup in order to detect and prevent conditions such as diabetes, obesity and parasites, among others. She said, "Every new admission to public school requires a medical certificate, which is why the municipal government, with the aim of helping parents, instructed us to do it free of charge; However, it is important to mention that the most important aspect of this is that it helps us detect various ailments."
She said to obtain the certificate, parents should go with the student to the Health Department, located downtown next to the Civil Registry, from Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Concerns about breeding areas for mosquitoes
Cementerios sitios de reproducción de vectores. [+] Ver masFull article at this link
There are residents who want the Vectors Department to address their concerns that mosquitoes can breed in the containers at the cemeteries downtown and in colonia La Gloria, as well as at abandoned construction sites such as the one on the road to Garrafon Park, where an empty pool collects rainwater. There is a similar situation near the Family Medical Clinic of the IMSS downtown at Carlos Lazo Street and the extension of Adolfo López Mateos Avenue. Residents want the officials to intervene, and to force owners of the former property to drain the pool. Zika, dengue, and chikungunya are constantly present in Isla Mujeres, and the three levels of government have a program of control.
Regarding the advance of the influenza virus AH1N1 among the inhabitants of Isla Mujeres, work is underway to control it and preventive measures have been recommended to halt its advance. The Ministry of Health (SSA) recommends the following: Wash your hands frequently with soap and water, preferably it is liquid; cover your mouth when you cough and sneeze with a disposable tissue with the inside angle of your elbow; immediately throw the tissue in a plastic bag; Once you do this, wash your hands again. If you are sick, do not greet people or give them a kiss or a handshake; it is recommended that you rest and avoid going to crowded places such as cinemas, theaters, restaurants, etc., do not share glasses, cutlery or food with other people; and do not spit on the ground."
