During the 31st Session of the City Council on Tuesday, the auction of computer equipment, office furniture and vehicles that have completed their useful life was approved. The resources that are collected will be invested in the improvement of the municipality. LINK
Information is given for obtaining scholarships for academic excellence, sports, special education or maritime transport.

The municipal DIF social service agency of Isla Mujeres is providing the details for the great celebration of the collective weddings, an event that will be held on February 15 in the Continental Zone and on the 16th on the island.LINK
It is noted that every year for Valentine's Day, the City offers this event for the purpose of formalizing the unions of couples who have been living together for a long time or who are simply looking for the opportunity to unite their lives on such a special date.
The president of the DIF explained that because it is a special event and the couples that are part of the collective weddings program will not pay a single peso for the procedure since everything, including the cake, will be covered by the municipality.
Aguakan is announcing that the tap water supply to certain areas of Cancun, and Isla Mujeres, may be affected on Tuesday, Jan. 30 when they conduct preventative maintenance replacing the circulation valves at the pumping station by the Cancun Airport.
Mayor Juan Carlos Soberanis confirmed his interest in seeking candidacy with the PRI party for reelection. LINK

This year, plates are not being replaced with vehicle registration renewal, and vehicle owners will just need to pay for and obtain their vehicle circulation card, according to the state revenue collector, Jesús Contreras Gómez. He said the payment for renewal of the circulation card is 181 pesos for motorcycles and 384 pesos for automobiles, as long as the payments for previous years are up to date.
For those renewing their liquor selling stamps, there is a discount of 30 to 50 percent in January and February, if the holders request it. Mr.. Contreras said there are about 500 alcohol licenses in the municipality.
He said he could not give the exact number of vehicles in the municipality, and explained, "What happens with the vehicles, especially with the cars, is that while many come, many others leave, they arrive with license plates from other states and before making the change, they've left Quintana Roo for other states".
He said that both on the island and in the Continental Zone there is a varying population of owners who pay here for their vehicle registration one year and the following year they have left. He said, "We are talking about a varying number of vehicles that ranges between 15 and 19 thousand units, including motorcycles, cars, golf carts, cargo vehicles, taxis and others."

Citizens who have not yet renewed their IFE voting credential can vote without
problems, as long as it is valid, although the recommendation is to change it if the card is
ten years old or more, according to the INIF module manager in Isla Mujeres,
Bonifacio Kumul. He added that they will be in the town until Wednesday, to return again on a date yet to be defined in February. Visits are scheduled in February, March, and two dates in April.
The INE module arrived on the island on Monday and even though its installation was scheduled for the La Gloria Community Center, a fault in the electricity supply led its the relocation to the Casa de la Cultura, where on Tuesday a good number of citizens visited.

January 23.- Despite the fact that the port of Isla Mujeres is open to navigation in general due to the favorable weather conditions, the entry of the cold front number 24 could cause new restrictions to smaller vessels as of today, with a probability that navigation could be restricted on Thursday, a day when rains of up to six millimeters are forecast in the area.
According to information provided by the Harbor Master's Office of Isla Mujeres, on Tuesday morning cold front number 24 was in the central part of Veracruz, moving to the southeast, and it is expected to reach the Yucatan peninsula on Wednesday morning.
The Harbor Master's office reported that the port currently remains open for general navigation by all boats, and as the hours progress, the appropriate measures will be taken according to the weather conditions. With the entry of the new cold front, winds of 35 kilometers per hour are predicted with gusts of 40 kilometers per hour, as well as waves of two to three meters outside the Bay, which will probably cause closure of the port again for small boats.
On Tuesday, weather conditions were favorable for nautical tourism and fishing activities; in the case of small boats, they were able to go out to work for the first time in 10 days, although some took advantage of the port opening on Monday.
The warm temperatures and the sun shining practically all day, with some cloudy intervals, together with the calm of the sea, permitted boat tours to the nearby reefs of El Farito, MUSA and, in the case of the marinas, sport fishing and diving tours.
Some of the lobster fishermen reported good catches and full traps, but they spoke about the repeated closures. Fisherman Badillo said, "Production is not so good but here we go, we just brought in a full trap, but it had been 20 days in the sea, due to the continuous closures of the port and the weather was not good enough to go out that far, which did not allow us go to look for it before."
Regarding catching fish, the fishermen are eager to catch grouper during these last days when it is allowed, because the season ends on January 31. The various other species they manage to catch are practically sold out as soon as they touch the docks of the cooperatives, where many customers leave empty handed, after everything was sold out.

Within ten minutes walk are the restaurants Mango Cafe, Brisas, Manolitos, Green Verde, Kash Kechen Chuc, and the large department store-grocery Chedraui. Visit marinas, bars, & beach clubs that are minutes away by bike or on foot. Attend Yoga classes a couple villas away at hotelito Casa Ixchel. Fresh juice, produce & tortillas a few blocks away in the village, as well as a variety of other stores and small local restaurants. It takes 20-30 minutes to walk downtown.

Saturday, Jan. 6 Día de Reyes/ King's Day This day commemorates when the three kings or Magi visited Jesus & is the culmination of the twelve days of Christmas. Traditionally this is the day when Mexican children receive gifts (which are brought by the three kings as opposed to Santa). It is customary to eat Rosca de reyes, a sweet bread that represents King Herod's crown with figurines of baby Jesus hidden inside. Whoever finds the token in their piece is obligated to host a party on Candlemas Day (Dia de la Candelaria), Feb. 2, which usually includes tamales.
Festival for King's Day (Jan. 6) at the el Pescador baseball field in front of Chedruai on Saturday starting at 5p. More than 6000 people are expected to attend to enjoy the entertainment, surprises, and presents.
There's also a toy giveaway at Ruben's restaurant on Guerrero, but as of 8am on Jan. 5, they're unsure what time....probably ~11am.
Jan. 6 is Día de la Enfermera. This special day was established in 1931, when Dr. Jose Villagrana said nurses were like a "regalo de reyes"...a gift from the Magi. (International Nurse's Day is celebrated on May 12th, the birthday of Florence Nightingale).
