    On Tuesday, just before 7pm, a 911 caller reported hearing gunshots at the Paseo de las Aves, in colonia Amplification la Gloria. In what is presumed to be an act of organized crime, the driver of taxi #35, Ismael Cupul Trejo, 31, was fatally shot in the neck, in front of the Teacher's Monument. It is noted that this is the first execution of the year in Isla Mujeres, and that the driver lived here.

This says the driver of taxi #35, Ismael C.T., 31, was shot and killed at 6:30 last evening near the CENDI facility on prolongation Jesus Martinez Ross. At the time this article was written, investigators lacked clues regarding the identity of the assassin, who is presumed to have left on foot.
  The Chief of Police (el director de Seguridad Pública de Isla Mujeres), Jaime Alberto Ongey Ortíz, responded to the rumor about other executions in Isla Mujeres by saying it was completely untrue. There has just been one case.

Waiting for the winter season

 Merchants, restaurateurs, coffee shop owners and other entrepreneurs are reporting a slight increase in sales and say this October is better than last year. They are awaiting winter season when higher levels of economic activity occur. Canadians and Americans fleeing cold weather have begun to arrive, but their presence will be more noticeable after the end of November and into December.

  Nov. 8 Although weather conditions are good for all types of nautical activities, the tour operators reported a medium demand for their services. The fishermen were unable to work very far from the coast. Hotel occupancy is increasing slowly and for the first week in October had an overall average of 53% of which 51% was reported by HIM and 56% by the other hotels. A weather report is given. The port remained open for navigation by all vessels with caution advised for smaller boats.

Walk less than 10 minutes southwest to shop at Chedraui or to dine at Green Verde, Kash Kechen Chuc, or other options. Visit marinas, bars, & beach clubs that are minutes away by bike or on foot. On Nov. 2, hundreds of residents have been invited to participate the silent parade, who will dress in traditional clothing or white, with Catrina makeup  as Catrinas vivientes..living Catrinas for the "Festival of the Living for the Dead". It starts at 6p from the Cemetery (Hidalgo and Lopez Mateos) to the Casa Cultura where there will be a display of altars in the style of different regions of Mexico.   Batik artist Sergio is a usual participant, along with Isla Brewery. Amar Peruvian restaurant set up tables at the last two fairs.
