National Anti rabies Week has been initiated to immunize hundreds of pets against rabies in the municipality of Isla Mujeres, said Juana Milián González, director of Health. It is taking place from Sept. 24-30th on the island from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., for free, in the park of colonia "La Gloria".
This measure begins when the program of regularization of the street animals is already in progress, as well as of the domestic pets, although in fact the Director of Ecology has not yet done the promised work of inventorying the animals in the colonias. It is estimated that there are about 10,000 dogs and cats on the island, most of which are in the streets, and before the end of the year a more accurate number should be known.

The ferry company that transports vehicles from Isla Mujeres to Punta Sam announced on their website that they were offering free space for vehicles carrying humanitarian aid on Saturday, Sept. 23, to help the earthquake victims in the center and south of the country.
This transport of food and clothing for the victims occurred when half a dozen vehicles were on their way to Chiapas, Oaxaca, Morelos, Puebla, Tlaxcala, Guerrero, the State of Mexico and Mexico City.
Many companies continue to participate in the donations of food and items of basic necesities for many families living in remote areas, as has been reported to Paola Orrico de Carrillo, first lady of Isla Mujeres, who has personally went to hand out donations in rural areas of Chiapas and Oaxaca.Volunteer groups have also been uploading photos on social networks that record this effort, since the previous weekend, to communicate with their donors and gain their confidence. Also joining in the effort is the Mexican Red Cross of Isla Mujeres and the Navy of Mexico, who have donated vehicles to facilitate transport by land and air. Many workers are waiting their payday on the fortnight this weekend to buy and deliver their donations, according to comments from several of them. They said they were touched by the positive behavior of young people and adults in the effort to rescue those trapped in buildings that collapsed in the earthquakes.

Denies that an execution occurred in Isla Mujeres mainland
Desmienten ejecución en Isla Mujeres. [+] Ver masFull article at this link
The police chief of Isla Mujeres, Jaime Ongay Ortiz, explained that no one executed on Sunday in the agricultural area of the municipality, but that crime occurred in the municipality of Puerto Morelos.
He said that on Sunday at 3:28 pm, the body of a man identified as Manuel HH, 42, was found by the emergency corps and police officers in the vicinity of the Leona Vicario-Cancún highway, who had a head injury that deprived him of his life. "We went with a patrol to the place in support of the police officers of Leona Vicario (municipality of Puerto Morelos) in whose territory the events occurred, not inside Isla Mujeres," said police chief Ongay. Confusion occurred because on the road to the agricultural area, where the event occurred, is shared with that neighboring municipality, according to some residents. The police chief said that the municipal police departments continue to work in coordination with those of the neighboring municipalities, as well as the state and federal agencies, to keep Isla Mujeres safe. The police chief said that Mayor Juan Carrillo Soberanis is committed to keeping Isla Mujeres as the most secure municipality of Quintana Roo and Department of Public Safety and Municipal Transit, works in coordination with all the agencies necessary to achieve it.
