The
Amerimed Centro de Atención Médica (CAM) in colonia Electristas will
open next Saturday, May 21st. The caption says they will be open 7 days a
week, to residents & visitors, with urgent care available and
specialists, as well as laboratory and x-ray services.
May 9--The Commander of the Naval base, Vicealmirante Javier Abarca, explained that jet skis aren't permitted near the beaches of the Isla Mujeres and no permits will be issued. He said ten jet skis are currently impounded, whose penalties will be determined by the Harbor Master, based on the each case, after verifying their registrations.
May 7-- There were two electrical outages Thursday night, and the airfield generator was running yesterday.
May 7--The municipal Police Department has received 21 new patrol vehicles, which include eight trucks, three compact cars and 10 moto-patrols. In a previous article, the department Comandante, Celestino Palomo Balam, said that about half would be used on the island and half on the mainland part of the municipality. He noted they already had 11 vehicles and one four-wheeled motorcycle in operation.
May 6-- The 31st edition of the Regata al Sol is on its way from Pensacola Florida. Their events begin Sunday, and the recognition ceremony by the City Council is on Tuesday. On Wednesday, they'll attend the traditional Captain's cocktail party at the Rock House (Casa de las Piedras) at noon, followed by their Mardi Gras parade at 5p, and the basketball game downtown at 7p. The parade assembles near Buho's, (unless the water-network construction nearby relocates it). Events conclude with the trophy presentation on Thursday evening.
