Municipios | Se presenta nuevo secretario estatal de SaludNew policy announcement by State Secretary of Health

The downtown hospital in Spanish is the Hospital Integral, which I translate to the General Hospital (it could also be translated as the Comprehensive Hospital).
The hospital being built in La Gloria has been called a couple different things by the media. I have been using "Specialty Hospital". Today PE is calling it the "Hospital General".
Specialty Hospital 70% completed

The new State Secretary of Health said they expect the hospital being constructed in La Gloria to be completed this year. It is noted that completion of this work required 40 million pesos, which includes funds for providing equipment. Following the construction of the hospital, Por Esto says the challenge will be the provision of human resources who will be responsible for operating this medical center which will include general practitioners and specialists. PE says with the geographical conditions of Isla Mujeres and the wages paid by these institutions make it unlikely that many will want to come there to work. Residents have been complaining increasingly about the insufficient medical services available, and this new hospital could markedly improve this situation.

Playoffs of the league "Jose Luis Triko Garcia"
This weekend the penultimate game will be held of the regular season of the league "Jose Luis Tirko Garcia", which will be followed by the playoffs. Many families were present at the games on Sunday. The games are held at the baseball field "El Pescator" That is in front of Chedraui. It describes which teams won and lost. One team is named for the restaurant Mininos (which means pussycats), another is los Cerveceros, (beer store/brewers), and the third is Los Carniceros de los Hermanos Alcocer, (butchers). The Cerveceros are out of the playoffs.
The second game will be the Carniceros against Mininos, which on July 14, will give rise to the playoffs where the first prize will be 5000 pesos, second prize will be 2300 pesos, and third prize will be 1000 pesos.
The first game of the Veterans (age 50 & up) against the club Sol Zorro (Foxy Sun? Sunny Fox?) will be held at 12:30 (it does not say what date. Maybe this Sunday?).

It is currently the season for swimming with the whale sharks, and turtles are mating offshore & nesting on the eastern beaches. The mating is visible by day, especially off Punta Sur, the South Point. The nesting happens in the wee hours, and there are Tortugranja personnel, volunteers, and Naval staff monitoring the beaches to prevent people from disrupting them, and to gather and transport the eggs for incubation.
By far, most of the turtles nesting in Isla Mujeres are Green turtles (called Blancas in Spanish), and the second most common are the huge Loggerheads, and there are some Hawksbills. The Green turtles take ~60 days to hatch and the hatchlings are released by the public at events at dusk on Media Luna or Guadalupana beaches. The releases will begin in about a month & be held periodically until early October.

Excerpts & graphic from The Sea Turtle Conservancy LINK
Sea turtles are generally solitary creatures that remain submerged for much of the time they are at sea, which makes them extremely difficult to study. They rarely interact with one another outside of courtship and mating.
Sea turtles are known to feed and rest off and on during a typical day. During nesting season, research conducted in the southeast United States helped discovered that loggerheads follow regular patterns between the nesting beach itself and offshore reefs and other rocky structures. It is presumed that mating and/or feeding occurs at these offshore areas. When it is not nesting season, sea turtles may migrate hundreds or even thousands of miles. Sea turtles can sleep at the surface while in deep water or on the bottom wedged under rocks in nearshore waters. Many divers have seen green turtles sleeping under ledges in reefs and rocks. Hatchlings typically sleep floating on the surface, and they usually have their front flippers folded back over the top of their backs.
Most females return faithfully to the same beach each time they are ready to nest. Not only do they appear on the same beach, they often emerge within a few hundred yards of where they last nested. Most nest at night and most females nest at least twice during the nesting season, although individuals of some species may nest only once, and others more than ten times. Sea turtles are generally slow and awkward on land, and nesting is exhausting work.
The female turtle crawls to a dry part of the beach and begins to fling away loose sand with her flippers. She then constructs a "body pit" by digging with her flippers and rotating her body. After the body pit is complete, she digs an egg cavity using her cupped rear flippers as shovels. The egg cavity is shaped roughly like a tear drop and is usually tilted slightly.
In the wee hours when they are nesting, you can sometimes see the sand flying thru the air as they dig, and it partially covers them, making them hard to spot. They make a big broad turtle-sized pit, with a small area that is a deep tubular hole to contain the eggs. That tube-hole looks like it was made with a post hole digger. The eggs, which look like ping pong balls, are flexible so they don't break as they drop. Their sex and incubation period are influenced by the temperature of the sand. Each nest has around 100 eggs (give or take ~20). ~wc
