Salieron de lsla Mujeres desde el miércoles y hasta ayer no se sabía de ellos

Lanrry PARRA

ISLA MUJERES, 1 de abril.- .
This has the same information as the TVIM article below, noting that the last contact with the fishermen was by radio marine band on the evening of Wednesday, March 30 when they had arrived at the fishing spot. They had left on Wednesday morning for an area south of Isla Mujeres, near Cozumel, known as "Molas" . Relatives of the missing fishermen have been gathering at the premises of the fishing cooperative "Patria y Progreso" awaiting news.
It says the missing fishermen are:  Jorge Fernando de la O Avalos “Pipis”; Marcos Bardales “Vampiro”; “Chatilly”; Rusel; and Beto. The port has been closed since Thursday for small boats (under 40 ft).
It is noted that this is the first case in years, and recalled that in the late 90's during the "Mahache" season, various boats were affected by high seas near the island and in the open sea. The boat "El Maranatha" of the Isla Blanca cooperative capsized several miles south of port in a strong wind. Its crew was never recovered and the boat appeared weeks later near Florida.

A search began today by sea & air for the 32 ft boat "Anastacia", and its four man crew, including Capt. Jorge de la O Avalos (aka "Pipis"; of On Isla Mujeres Tours). They departed Wednesday to fish for shark and were expected back Thursday afternoon.
Unofficial reports indicate they were going to the area known as "Molas", to the south of Isla Mujeres in the area of Cozumel. Four private boats are officially assisting the Naval search, and it is presumed there are others helping.
An alert was sent out yesterday among the boat captains to try and determine the whereabouts of the vessel. The missing crew includes Marcos Bardales, aka "Vampiro", a crew member known as "Chatilly", and another, whose information is not available.
The Navy, as well as its Search and Rescue Unit, are combing the area by sea and by air. In Isla Mujeres, the community is hoping and praying for their safe return, and hundreds have expressed their concern on social networks since the official notice last evening.
Sally Margolis posted: The Navy Search started this morning at 4am and: "To all who want to search for our friends and family members lost in the Anastacia, the authorities have authorized the search if you have a boat of 40 feet or more. Go at the cooperativa Patria y Progreso where gas will be provided."

The Navy began searching on Friday afternoon in the vicinity of Punta Molas, Cozumel, for the boat "Anastasia" which has been missing since Wednesday, with five fishermen aboard. They had reported that they were in that area on Wednesday at dusk, and there has been no further communication from them. Around midday on Friday, it was decided to report them as missing to the Navy (SEMAR). At the time of their last communication, the southeasterly winds had already begun to intensify. These winds have kept small boats restricted to port the past two days (Boats under 40 feet, Thursday & Friday). The Anastasia is about 33 feet long.
Naval sources confirmed that an airplane based in Cozumel began the search when the fishermen were reported missing before 2pm on Friday. (The rest of this article has the same information as those translated above).

Security is also being provided until the end of the holiday period by staff of the Red Cross, Navy, and Harbor Master.
