Both regions of the state remain in Yellow Nov. 30-Dec. 6. The Contagion
Rate increased from 0.87 to between 0.94 and 0.95 in our Northern Zone,
and the Governor encouraged everyone to increase their measures of
prevention and not let down their guard.
On the daily report 11/27, Isla Mujeres reports another case for a total
of 225, with 20 deaths and 189 recovered. On the national map for
11/26, the municipality reports 155 suspicious and 119 negatives. For
11/26 the state geoportal continues to report two active cases with one
each in colonia Caridad del Cobre and El Canotal.
The first
reported case in the state (in Cancun) was Friday, March 13 and the
graph shows reported cases weekly in Isla Mujeres thru the end of the
37th week on Thursday, Nov. 26. The first case on the island was April
4th.

The municipal Department of Urban Development and the Environment were distributing face masks at the taxi stand and promoting hygiene measure for the prevention of C-19 among clients and drivers. The workers were also providing hand sanitizer to those boarding the taxis. The goal is to continue moving forward toward reaching green on the state epidemiological light. The director fo the agency noted, ′′While we are moving forward and going well, we cannot be overconfident, especially because the high season is coming to our municipality and we must keep taking care of ourselves ",
Personnel with municipal department of Urban Development and the Environment visited local homes to invite residents to take advantage of the free pet sterilization program, which provides this service every Thursday at the Isla Animals Veterinary Clinic at 10am.
November is Diabetes Awareness Month, and the municipal government continues to assist the resident diabetics who are dependent on insulin by providing this medicine to them free of charge, if they submit official identification.
Personnel with the municipal government were removing an atypical arrival of sargasso and sea grass on Monday, due to the recent weather conditions. The ZOFEMAT (Federal Zone agency) Director, Kerem Pinto Auilar, said two crews were working early in the morning to remove the sargasso to the Trash Transfer facility. They worked in coordination with other municipal departments, including the Department of Urban Development and the Environment, to preserve the beauty of Isla's beaches, to keep the island's attractions in optimal condition.
On the island and in the Continental Zone, the municipal government is working to raise awareness about eliminating violence against women and girls with the program "Isla Mujeres Contigo" (with you) during this month which is dedicated to this issue.. They are distributing information which include the numbers to report violence which are 998 229 4411, 911 and 089.

Public employees are receiving training classes in issues including gender equality, prevention of gender violence, elimination of violence against women, social violence, new masculinity, and human rights.
The municipal government commemorated the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, with a series of activities coordinated by the IMM, Municipal Women's Institute. A symbolic meeting was held at the photo op site (behind Casa Cultura) where ideas and comments were exchanged and a commemorative photograph for Dia Naranja/Orange Day was taken. Other activities included a screening of the film "The Smile of Mona Lisa / “La Sonrisa de la Mona Lisa”. The Mayor was represented by the General Secreatary, Miriam Trejo Leon who spoke about the importance of reporting violence against women and how it should not be considered normal or become a habit.

The DIF social service agency delivered donated blankets to senior citizens as part of the program "Cobijando Con Amor" VIDEO On Tuesday, they were delivered in the colonias of La Gloria and Guadalupana.

The municipal government signed a tax stimulus agreement offering discounts to teachers affiliated with the National Education Workers Union (SNTE), which includes 50% off on municipal property taxes and drivers licenses.
Youths of Isla Mujeres were invited to register by November 26th to participate in the Youth Congress “Quinto Congreso Juvenil del Estado de Quintana Roo 2020” which will take place virtually this year. They were advised to submit their essays on the issues of social, economic and environmental justice to the website www.congresoqroo.gob.mx. The selection of representatives and alternates will take place from Nov 27 to Dec. 3 and the results will be announced no later than Dec. 4th.
Some types of sports activities are being carefully reactivated in the municipality, which has included boxing classes with sanitary precautions and now an All-Stars game for the children's baseball stars. It was coordinated by the municipal Department of Sports and Physical Culture as "Juego de Estrellas, Pescadorcitos" with a small number of participants.
Municipal discounts on fines, fees and other services up to 50% will conclude on November 30th, which includes construction licenses (under 300 square meters), land use renewal, ecology permits (under 100 meters), fines & fees for trash collection, late fees, traffic fines (not DUI's), and drivers licenses.
VIDEO VIDEO The reporter estimates there are about 15 people aboard this ~30 foot boat at the Naval pier, whom he assumes are undocumented Cubans rescued at sea by the Navy. There are also personnel with Immigration and the Harbor Master's office on the pier. It is presumed that the people, who include women, will be taken to the Hospital for a medical review and then placed at the disposal of Immigration.
On Saturday, November 28th, the icon of the island's patron saint will be taken down from her niche at the downtown church of Inmaculada Concepción, but there will be no procession this year. LINK For the first time in the history of Isla Mujeres, the holiday celebration will be suspended and only religious activities, such as reciting the holy rosary, will take place, to avoid agglomerations. Each day, according to the schedule, a mass will be celebrated with a holy rosary for each of the various groups and organizations, as well as for the businesses. La Tertulia reports there was an execution of a young man who was shot in the head in broad daylight in the doorway of his home in colonia Caridad del Cobre. A Red Light alert was issued when the incident occurred shortly before 3pm on Palo Bravo Street, where neighbors heard the shots and engine noise of a motorcycle, but no one saw the aggressor(s). The victim had vital signs when the ambulance arrived, but he died minutes after arrival at the Community Hospital despite efforts of the doctor on duty. At the scene, first responders and police cordoned off the area pending the arrival of personnel with the Prosecutor's office. The Hospital Director says they once again have influenza vaccines and are administering them at the Community Hospital from 7a to 2p Monday thru Friday.
Noti reports that it was confirmed that a young man, Miguel Angel P. was executed by being shot in the head in colonia Caridad del Cobre (VIDEO of police cordoning off the street. )
Rehabilitation work is being done by the City at sports areas of the Green Dome and the soccer field in colonia Salina Chica, which consists of placing fencing mesh and a thorough cleaning. (photos)

Turtles continue hatching out at the Tortugranja in November
The mamas
nest along the eastern beaches from May thru October. Tortugranja staff and
volunteers gather the eggs and incubate them in the sand in a pen
outside the facility. Three species nest annually in Isla Mujeres,
Greens, Loggerheads,
and Hawksbills. Photos of nest hatching out at
