The City is conducting a campaign on Facebook with the slogan "Your Pet, Your Responsibility", encouraging residents to clean up after their pets and be responsible for their well being. The first part of the campaign reminds residents that it is their responsibility to collect the feces of their pets and clean the remains of urine in public spaces, which is necessary for the health of the community and cleanliness of the island. The next aspect of the campaign will be about putting an ID tag and collar on your dog and using a leash when walking it, for the safety of others.

Aguakan investing 9 million pesos on the mainland
Aguakan invertirá $9 millones en el continente
The Aguakan water and wastewater service provider in Isla Mujeres will invest more than 9 million pesos to introduce a pipeline of more than two kilometers to supply tap water for 5000 lots in the mainland part of the municipality. This is the second stage of the project to bring water from the neighboring municipality of Benito Juárez (Cancun). The third stage will take place in the second third of the year with the investment of public resources for the distribution network and home connections. This is a joint plan with the three levels government, following meetings with federal legislators to assess the situation in the Continental Zone concerning the lack of water. However, it is dependent on the federal investment project to introduce a 15 kilometer pipeline from the wells, which is part of the development plan for Ciudad Mujeres. This information was provided by César Espinosa Rodríguez, Aguakan's planning manager, who said that the investment of 9.39 million pesos of Aguakan's own resources is already available, now the bidding process will take place to compete for the work and then it will start immediately.
On another topic, he explained that there have been delays in the completion of the final stage of the expansion of the wastewater network at the southern part of the island. It has been two thirds completed, and the completion date has been rescheduled for September, when the island should have 100% coverage. The previous stages of these improvements included doubling the capacity of the treatment plant from 30 to 60 liters per second. Also included is the introduction of the distribution network for colonia La Guadalupana, and he said they will attend to resurfacing the road where the 450 meters of pipeline were installed.
Another Aguakan representative spoke at a press conference concerning complaints against the company to PROFECO, the Federal Consumer Protection Agency, noting the complaints involved only 0.01% of its customers. She explained that these problems involved leaks inside the houses, which is why they recommend frequent monitoring of installations and the water meter, in comparison to previous consumption. The cost for service of tap water, wastewater, and VAT tax is 180 pesos for 10 cubic meters.
The TVIM article notes the company provides service to more than 370,000 customers in the four municipalities and that the prices are regulated by the state government.

In February, generally the temperatures are very pleasant, but weather for this month includes "nortes", fronts from the north whose winds often cause small boats to be restricted to port, and they may bring clouds, rain, and cooler temps. They cause the lobster to come out of their hiding places and move south across the seabed, increasing the catches of the fishermen.
Fishermen in this region are banned from catching Grouper and Octopus in February (and March). Lobster season ends after Feb. 28th (Lobsters kept in captivity continue to be available). LINK
