An accident occurred on Rueda Medina around midnight between a Mitsubishi Lancer car driven by Jimy U.T.R. and a motorcycle driven by Javier Rodriguez, 50, with his son as a passenger. Fault for the accident was attributed to the car driver, due to excessive speed. He hit the motorcycle, whose driver took the brunt of the collision, and Mr. Rodriguez and his son were both injured and offered care by the paramedics who arrived on the scene. Those who witnessed the incident, posted it on social media, after documenting it with their phones. See LINK

April 15 Effects of cold front #44 caused small boats to be restricted to port again, and reduced tourism on the beaches and other areas of the island. It drizzled at 11:30 for the second time. It was overcast with thunder, and the strength of the southern winds reduced, and the calm indicated the winds were changing to come from the opposite direction.
North Beach and Playa Centro were deserted from an early hour, and the rain that began at 1:20 caused the visitors to seek shelter because it was stronger compared to the morning. There was minimal activity by the boats that offer nautical recreation in the bay, and many cancellations due to the weather. The rental agencies for the 830 golf carts reported less than 40 percent of their carts were rented by noon. There was no diving or snorkeling for the second day in a row.
This front was stronger than expected, which surprised many tourism service providers, who expect things to improve on Monday. (The first article says that the port closure could continue on Monday, with this cold front that is affecting the entire Gulf of Mexico, and the states of Indiana, Texas, Louisiana, and Florida.)

This article is information from the Action for Isla fb page, which is already available in English, so I'm just going to copy and paste their entire post about this event here...it is written & posted by Kai Creamer.
Isla Mujeres is a paradise on Earth, known for it’s white sand beaches, crystal clear waters and beautiful fish (both on our plates, and on ours reefs). But in this day and age, and with the ever increasing threat of plastic pollution looming, keeping it this that way is no easy task.
From poisoning and destroying marine life to disrupting human health and hormones, from littering our beaches and landscapes to clogging our waste streams and landfills, the plastic pollution is now threatening the survival of our planet and everything on it.
So for the third year in a row, Action for Isla is happy to announce
that we will be hosting our big Earth Day Clean-up, to bring awareness
of this problem to our residents, and unite our community to work
towards Ending Plastic Pollution. We will be tackling the waste build up
on both land and sea with an in-water Dive Against Debris and
simultaneous beach clean up!
In 2016, 62 volunteers got together to remove 650kgs of waste from our beaches and seas, last year both numbers grew with 148 people collecting and sorting a whopping 1,090kgs of trash!! This year we hope to go even bigger! And we need your help!
BEACH CLEAN-UP:
*All are welcome!*
8:30am-11:00am
Sing in on the Caribbean Boardwalk by the “Isla Mujeres” sign behind the Casa de Cultura.
Bring gloves if you have them and your reusable water bottle to refill from the Garrafones at our sign in tent!
DIVE AGAINST DEBRIS:
*Snorkellers and Certified Divers!*
SIGN-UP Through Participating Dive Shops before April 21st to receive your safety briefing.
Meet next to Velazquez at 8am to enter the water at 8:30am. Sing in and out of dive at H.Q. registration desk.
H.Q. and trash sorting station will be located next to Velazquez Restaurant, on Playa Centro along Av. Rueda Medina (Ferry-road).
All of the trash collected will be sorted, classified and weighed and this Data reported to Project AWARE Foundation and the Ocean Conservancy and used to help inform and support research and legislation to End Plastic Pollution on a local and global scale. So it is all hands on deck!
After all the trash has been collected, sorted and weighed a raffle will be held with stellar prizes donated by our local sponsors and all clean-up volunteers have a chance to win!
If you have a local business and would like to sponsor a raffle prize please contact Kai Creamer or Action for Isla on Facebook or by e-mail actionforisla@gmail.com
If you would like to help but can’t participate in the clean-up contact Action for Isla to join our registration and refreshments crew.
Thank you to all who do their part to help Isla Mujeres and our whole Earth! And thank you to our primary sponsors Oasis Skate Shop, Sunset Isla Mujeres, Mayan Beach Club, Isla Mujeres Ethnographic Field School, Isla Fiesta and Mundaca Real Estate Immobilaria for making this event possible!
