The pleasant weather facilitated more tourism and good business for all the tourism related businesses, including the small boat crews who operate tours, as well as the fishermen. Vendor of souvenirs and handicrafts said sales were slow. The Tourism Police reported a "Saldo Blanco" (no incidents) on the beach so far this year. The lifeguards and security agents from private businesses said there is good coordination between all personnel who are ready to assist anyone who needs help.
The Harbor Master and Civil Protection agency reported stable weather for Sunday and the forecast predicts this to continue for the upcoming week. Tourist activity on land and sea took place with no problems, while security remains vigilant.

Representatives and partners of the National Chamber of Commerce, Service and Tourism (Canaco-Servytur), as well as the Association of Small Hotels Fascinantes, are complaining about low levels of occupancy at 50% and they want the ferries to offer lower rates. A meeting is scheduled for this weekend. They say hotel occupancy was better last year during February when they were nearly full.
Meanwhile, Marinsa is planning to replace its monohull boats with catamarans. It is noted that a third ferry company, Maveganto, is planning to compete with Marinsa and Ultramar on the Isla Mujeres-Puerto Juarez route, and should announce the starting date of their operations at any time.
Competition is expected to being this month on the cargo-passenger route to Punta Sam when Ultramar's ferry "Ultracarga III" is expected to begin operations, after Maritima has served this route for more than two decades.

See City section. The game was played on the outdoor court downtown, "Jose del Carmen Pastana", which was overflowing with spectators and followed by a celebration, where the team exhibited their trophy to the fans.
The Cahuameros basketball team will play the Dorados of Playa del Carmen next weekend who are the current champions and current leader in the Major League Basketball Tournament. Most likely, the games will be held here at the Convention Center on Saturday at 8pm and on Sunday at noon. The other competition in the tournament will be between Universidad Modelo of Yucatan and Ingeniera of Cancun.
