Concerns continue about beach erosion

Podrían afectar infraestructura de negocios

Lanrry PARRA

ISLA MUJERES, 11 de marzo.-
There are concerns about the erosion of beach in the area of Playa Norte known as Playa Sol, where the sea is now only about three meters from a large palapa of about 100 square meters. A year ago, the sea was about 60 or 70 meters from that palapa.
Due to the changing geography of the sand, the large pier on Playa Sol, which is about 30 meters long, is now about 60 percent on the beach, which makes it unusable for boats, who would risk running aground. Nearby workers estimate that of the 30 linear meters of dock, about 20 more meters are now over the sand, compared to six months ago.

ISLA MUJERES, 11 de marzo.-
The CROC union leader, Roman Maldonado Euan, said that 70 percent of the workers in the CROC union have benefited from the PREVENIMSS health program, and the rest are expected to receive these services by the middle of the year.  This health program is considered one of the most important for workers at a national level. He said of the 20 companies, 14 have participated since January, providing this medical assistance for their workers.
The PREVENIMSS is a program whose goal is to provide health services in a systematic and orderly manner, focusing on preventative measures and educational programs for the care and early detection of diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, and cancer. It provides education about health care, prevention of family violence, dietary information, and services for the detection and control of obesity and overweight, hypertension, diabetes, and prevention of tuberculosis, among others.
