Complaints against seasonal vendors from Cancun
Detengan a venteros oportunistas [+] Ver mas
Established merchants are complaining about unfair competition from mobile vendors, and in particular they dislike the increasing number of venders selling in the beach areas who arrive as high season increases, offering products for lower prices, who often come from Cancun. They say this is unfair to local residents who depend on selling clothing and souvenirs, and they want authorities to take control of the situation. They would like the problem reduced because December is one of their best months.

Hoy, Día de la Prueba de VIH [+] Ver mas |
Comprehensive Hospital of Isla Mujeres is participating in the fight against AIDS , on November 23 which is the " World Day of HIV Testing " and on the December 1 " World day of the Response to HIV ". Information will be disseminated to prevent the spread of this disease as well as free testing, with rapid results. They are expected to give over 1000 tests that are confidential and free, and these tests are available in other municipalities, such as Cancun, also. Dr David Valenzo Loaeza urged the public not to be afraid to take the test.
The Hospital Director said they gave out information last week at the Middle School about the importance of using protection to prevent the risk of spreading this virus, in addition to preventing unwanted pregnancies. He stressed the importance of using condoms during sex, especially for young people who become sexually active between 13 and 18 years of age.

Update: So, Guapo got a golf cart ride for being so brave. He made it
through the two hour surgery, Yahoo. There’s a lot of stitching in his
mouth and if it heals well he’s going to be fine. Soft food and quiet
time should do the trick. He goes back to Canada on Sunday. What a
lucky guy. Imagine loving up your dog so much that you take him to
another country for surgery. Well actually, most of you can imagine
that right, that’s why you read these posts. We checked on Vanilla and
she has a cast on her front leg and is doing well. I know that
Chocolate misses her so we’re trying to get her back to the island as
soon as we can. I’m so lucky to have two friends visiting who are both
vets and yesterday I dragged them all over the island checking on one
dog after another. They were great.
Sally Margolis adds...
Thanks to our wonderful donors we are at 58% of our goal, and thank you for continuing to share the campaign. (Special thank you to Arturo, our vet, who will, as always, generously wait to be paid. He does so much for us, and we are so lucky to have him.) Have a great weekend, everyone.
