Today's forecast says that Cold Front #43 is located over the eastern portion of the Yucatan (and a larger area) at the surface level with stationary characteristics. It is generating a slight decrease in temperatures, variable cloudiness, and some storm clouds, with some probability of rain, and cool winds of 15-25kph from the N-NW, w occasional gusts.
On Friday March 19, the municipality of Isla Mujeres reported another case for a total of 279, with 25 deaths and 8 more recovered for a total of 239. The state geoportal for 3/19 reports one active case in colonia 23 de noviembre.

Normal trash collection services resumed on Wednesday, after two trucks were repaired and back in operation. The municipal Director of Public Services, Jesus Moreno Povedano said all six routes are in operation, Monday thru Sunday, and they are picking up at the beaches and in Sac Bajo at night, as usual. He explained that collection is done in the colonias every day except Sunday and Tuesday. Pickup in Cañotal, Amplification la Gloria, Salinas and Aeropuerto begins at 1p, and it starts at 6pm in colonia La Gloria and at FOVISSSTE. He said the trucks require constant maintenance due to the corrosive effects of salt, and that the tourist areas and downtown weren't affected while the two trucks were out of service.

As part of its work to prevent the exploitation of children and adolescents, an informational campaign was carried out by the municipal agency of SIPINNA (National System for the Protection of Children & Adolescents), providing the phone numbers of 089 and 911 to report allegations of possible cases of abuse or exploitation. The campaign took place downtown and participants included the municipal General Secretary and the municipal police department's Director of Crime Prevention.
The municipal Department of Economic and Social Development will open an informational module for employment opportunities in the lower level of the Town Hall (Palacio Municipal) which will be open Monday-Friday, 10a-1p, in response to the pandemic which has caused job losses, affecting the economies of many families. The Director of the department explained that this is a joint effort with the private sector and is part of an employment exchange that is ongoing at their offices in colonia La Gloria, and is now being made available downtown.
The fire season began on March 1st, and this week the first brush fire occurred on the MAINLAND part of the municipality of Isla Mujeres at Isla Blanca. Thanks to the rapid response of the firefighters of Isla Mujeres and Cancun, it was limited to one hectare of bushes and low vegetation, and was under control within three hours. The area is being monitored by personnel with Civil Protection, whose Director reminded the citizenry to avoid campfires and to report any fires that may occur to prevent major damage.

The municipal Secretary General, Miriam Trejo Leon, said that the owner of this vehicle, which is covered in decals about C-19 testing by Marbu Salud, explained to City officials that the van is empty inside and only being used for advertising. They also mentioned that the vehicle has been used as a food truck on the eastern malecon.
