TV Isla Mujeres reports that an Isla Mujeres businessman received a call on his cell phone from someone claiming to be with BBVA, claiming he had 8000 unused points and they would give him 50 centavos per point, although he said he'd always used them. She gave him advice on how to free up the points, telling him to enter his mobile banking number, then click on the green circle, but he realized this green circle is part of the card-less withdrawal menu, and that she was a scammer who wanted him to create a file to withdraw money from his card, stealing his money with his assistance. He hung up, and they called three more times, so he blocked the number. LINK
TV Isla Mujeres reports: The municipal police are receiving training about gender violence against women and its emotional and psychological consequences. Captain Eduardo Fouilloux Bataller, general director of the municipal Department of Public Security and Traffic Police, explained that this course is the first of four training sessions, given by the Department for the Coordination of the Prevention of Gender Violence of the Quintana Roo Police with the aim of promoting a culture of social prevention in the matter of gender violence against women and equip institutions with tools for the application of public policies that allow eradicating violence against women, children and adolescents, in the municipality.
He said that it is necessary for the operational officers of municipal police department to know about the issue of gender perspective, analyze their way of viewing society and understand, respect and value each person.
In the training, they talked about gender inequality in jobs and in homes, how to visualize the similarity within their operations and they also talked about how all people have the right to be who they are and to express themselves, with no limits other than to respect for the rights of others. He said that despite the fact that women's rights are protected by international treaties and instruments, girls and women often suffer discrimination in health, society, the family, education, political representation and the labor market, all of which results in negative effects on their lives.
Capt. Fouilloux Bataller added that the training encouraged the department's staff to learn about the perspective of gender, types and modalities of gender violence against women, and the emotional and psychological consequences, its importance and how to apply it in the ways that police function and also in their family life.
