For Nov. 9-15, the state epidemiological light for our Northern Zone  continues in Yellow, as does the Southern Zone.

 Today the total number of cases of C-19 in Isla Mujeres remains unchanged at 222 with 20 deaths, and now there are 187 recovered.
Today the Geoportal shows only one active case in colonia Salina Chica.
The national map for 11/4 reports 151 suspicious and 103 negatives.

 

The 10a update for Tropical Depression Eta--

>By 7a tomorrow, Tropical Depression Eta is expected to move into the Caribbean Sea.
>Saturday at 7p, Eta is expected to be a Tropical Storm that is 250 mi E-SE of Cancun with winds of 53 mph (415 km/ winds 85 kph)
>Sunday at 7a it is expected to be 365 mi E of Cancun with winds of 60 mph (585 km/ winds 95 kph)
>Monday at 7a, it is expected to be 544 mi E-NE of Cancun with winds of 60 (730 km/ winds 95 kph)
>Tuesday at 7am it is expected to be 310 mi NE of Cancun with winds of 63 mph (500 km/ winds100 kph)

Tropical Depression Eta remains over land, with flood warnings in Nicaragua & Honduras and no coastal warnings or watches in effect. The NHC says interests in Belize, western Cuba and the Cayman islands should monitor its progress because Tropical Storm watches may be required later today or tonight. There is still a chance that Eta could degenerate to a remnant low pressure area later today if the convection does not persist. Intensification is expected over the warm waters of the Caribbean Sea from 24 to 72 hours, although this may be slowed by southwesterly shear.

CONAGUA reports Tropical Depression Eta is 235 mi south of Chetumal (380 km) moving NW at 9mph (15kph) with sustained winds of 28 mph (45 kph). Its wide circulation will cause occasional torrential rains in Chiapas, Tabasco and Quintana Roo; as well as very strong to intense rain in the southeast of the country and the Yucatan Peninsula. The cloud bands of "Eta" cover southeastern Mexico, including the Yucatan Peninsula. A new mass of cold air will reinforce the effects of Cold Front #11.

Turtles continue hatching out at the Tortugranja in November

The mamas nest along the eastern beaches from May thru October. Tortugranja staff and volunteers gather the eggs and incubate them in the sand in a pen outside the facility. Three species nest annually in Isla Mujeres, Greens, Loggerheads, and Hawksbills.  Photos of nest hatching out at MaraVilla Caribe Bed & Beach, that was missed by the Tortugranja patrols, by Bruce.
