Registration is open until Nov 15th, with the municipal sports department.
Today at the Pescador baseball field (in front of Chedraui) the Isla Mujeres Cocteleros of Picus will play the Vaqueros of Leona Vicario. (It doesn't say what time, but games usually begin at 1p. From Isla Mujeres al Dia)

On Friday at 7pm, the digital-ticket scanners for the Ultramar ferry stopped working due to an interruption in the internet connection, which caused a delay. The first time this happened, shortly after the new machines were installed, Ultramar told passengers to purchase another ticket, but the Port Authority, APIQRoo, has advised the company that they cannot require this. That would be particularly unfair to visitors who purchased a digital round-trip ticket and would have no use for the extra ticket. An employee noted there is also the option of scanning in Gran Puerto after arrival, rather than asking passengers to buy another ticket.Recuperating the El Riito Beach

The work of recovering the "El Riito" beach across from Mia is progressing, where they arestill working on the area north of the bridge-pier. They are pumping sand from the large sandbar that formed in front of NaBalam. The goal is to recover about 1300 square meters of sand, and the proper permits have been obtained from SEMARNAT.In the area they are currently working, they have recovered about 55 linear meters of 70 meters of beach and then they will work on the south side of the bridge-pier, where they hope to recover 150 linear meters. They had to remove a wooden structure that previously functioned to reduce erosion, but now had become buried in sand, causing a hazard that pedestrians could trip over, because the tops of the wooden poles were barely visible.

The old hospital has been abandoned since the new hospital in La Gloria took its place, and has become a "white elephant", with weeds growing up, that is sometimes used by youths who are smoking weed or drinking, or by indigent people for shelter.Concerns that Aguakan won't finish by the end of the month

There are concerns that Aquakan won't be 100% finished by November 30th with installation of the drainage system at the southern part of the island, and they won't properly replace the roads that were damaged. The work began in June and has affected traffic in the area, as well as causing some cancellations of reservations at tourism rental houses in the affected area where access has been most difficult.Removing accumulated trash from the Transfer Facility, again

Due to the closure of a section of road for installation of the wastewater network, the large trucks that transport trash to the mainland were unable to remove it from the Transfer Facility, and about 1400 tons accumulated over those 16 days. It is noted that a few weeks ago, the City had achieved its goal of removing more than 3000 tons of trash that had accumulated from previous administrations.Aguakan left a limited space for motorcycles and cars to pass and reach the propane facility, but the passage is too narrow for the large semi trucks. The road was closed from October 6th to the 22nd, but the smaller collection trucks were able to maneuver to and from the Facility. Since November 1st, the transport trucks have been makingtwo trips daily, Monday thru Saturday, removing 60 tons a day.

The Festival for the Town Saint, Our Lady of Immaculate Conception will begin sometime around the weekend of Friday, Nov. 28 and continue thru her day on Dec. 8th. There is usually a Cabalgata parade of horses and a "bullring" set up (bullfights have been banned in Mexico), where there are rodeos and comedic bullfights, as well as folklorico dance performances and a night or two of live music & dancing on the Town Square.
