Minimal absenteeism at local schools LINK
On Monday about 5000 students returned to their classrooms in Isla Mujeres, with minimal absenteeism, unlike the December vacation period, when it was greater. Attendance was between 90 and 95 percent, and school resumed without incidents, in a normal manner.

Fewer tourists arriving
Se reduce la llegada de turismo+] Ver masFull article at this link
April 9  With the conclusion of the Easter holiday period, fewer tourists are arriving. Most of the 24 golf cart rental agencies has only leased 40 to 50 percent of their inventory on Monday afternoon, unlike Sunday when all of their carts were in circulation by noon. The number of arriving tourists at the two maritime terminals was obviously lower than the ~20,000 daily that were arriving. APIRoo reported a high of 29,000 passengers in a single day.
It was also observed that the beaches were less busy and the businesses were having fewer sales. This marks the end of high season, and business will be 'regular' until there is an upturn when the summer vacation period begins, because an large economic income isn't expected when the whale shark season begins in mid May. Nor is a great deal of economic benefit anticipated from the two Regattas, according to Por Esto.
It is noted that golf cart rentals have good sales throughout the year, with an average of 80 percent, while occupancy for the small hotels drops to 30 percent, according to the Association of Small Hotels Fascinantes of Isla Mujeres.

"Saldo Blanco" among boaters (no major incidents)

Most of the information in the article has already been translated. It is noted that the Navy rescued four swimmers at North Beach, and the Harbor Master's office issued a minimal number of sanctions, compared to other years, which is attributed to constant exhortation to this sector to comply with the current Navigational Laws. There were also no incidents during the daily mobilization of ~20,000 passengers thru the two Port Authority (APIQRoo) terminals.

Port closed for small boats

Due to southeasterly winds intensifying with gusts exceeding 40 km/hr,  on Monday morning the Harbor Master closed the port for small boats, which could continue on Tuesday, according to the weather forecasts. Boats under 40 feet were restricted to port, and their nautical tours  in the Bay were not permitted, nor were trips to Isla Contoy by boats under 40 feet. The larger boats continued to offer tours in the National Marine Park, but the small boats from Puerto Juarez were not arriving, as they had been in the closing days of the Easter holiday season.
