This event took place at 8 locations in Quintana Roo, with joint action between the community and governmental agencies. This was carried out simultaneously coordinated by the federal Department of Environment and Natural Resources (SEMARNAT), and the Azteca Foundation A.C. In Isla Mujeres, the venue was Playa Norte, where the federal area concessionaires and businessmen were encouraged to participate, as well as municipal and federal authorities. This event also seeks to raise awareness about not littering, and using designated trash containers.
Carlos Barranco García, director of Environment and Ecology of Isla Mujeres, urged islanders and visitors to take care of the environment and the natural resources of the municipality through good management of waste.

Taxpayers are encouraged to take advantage of the last days of the 10% discount for property taxes LINK

The head of the state Federation of Fishing Cooperatives said lobster production has been good this season with about 300 tonnes of whole lobster and 60 tonnes of tails (for the state). The four month ban begins at the end of February, and it is noted that there have been some seizures and sanctions for catching Caracol Rosado (Queen Conch). Fishermen are advised to respect the ban periods, or they could end up with sanctions and possibley in jail. (There is currently a two month ban on grouper when ends on March 31st)

Electrical company reviewing network & especially the submarine line connection
La CFE revisa su red y tendido tras el apagón [+] Ver masFull article at this link
After the power outage for about a half hour on Friday, the CFE (Federal Electrical Commission) has been reviewing its networks, particularly the North Beach substation and the connection with the submarine line. With the change of the underground line that communicates with the substation, supply is ensured, unless there is a power cut from the mainland. It is presumed the power interruption came from this substation, but there hasn't been any report this weekend.
This substation was reviewed and the one for colonia La Gloria. It is recalled that in January of last year there was an outage for 15 hours, and three trucks remained on the island for several months in case there was a need to generate emergency power. Some business owners have asked the media to request that these trucks be provided about until after Easter, because there are many people here throughout this period.
It is noted that some companies have had solar panels installed on their roofs to ensure power when there are outages, and to become more autonomous.
