ISLA MUJERES, 23 de junio.-
According to personnel with the municipal Tourism Department, there is a problem related to invasion of assigned spaces and a lack of respect among the comisionista agents who are offering tourism services at the Maritime Terminal.
On Friday, two groups clashed, and staff with the Tourism Department intervened. One of the Tourism Department employees commented, "There would be no problems if they would respect their assigned spaces. However the moment the ferry arrives, they all approach the tourists, attempting to sell them some product or service, and it all becomes a disaster."
The comisionistas say the situation has gotten worse since the City now allows the taxi drivers to carry out this same activity, since in addition to offering their services, they are selling all kinds of service, which is allegedly not within their authorization, and they don't respect the assigned areas.

In the first half of the year, Isla Mujeres is experiencing tourism growth of 15 percent, compared to the same period in 2016, according to Mayor Juan Carrillo Soberanis. . He said it is no accident that more visitors are arriving to enjoy our excellent certified beaches and optimal level of safety, which are part of the requirements met to attain the distinction of being a Pueblo Magico.
