ISLA MUJERES, 11 de julio.-
Beginning on Saturday, and until Sunday, August 23, the Navy will conduct "Operation Saving Lives Summer 2015" (“Operación Salvavidas Verano 2015”) to provide comprehensive security for the tourists. This operation involves about 81 persons, including admirals, captains, officers, non-commissioned officers, and sailors, as well as 10 vehicles on land and sea. They will monitor the beaches and staff two first aid stations, in order to safeguard human lives on the beaches and ensure order during the visits of domestic and foreign vacationers.
With this in mind, the Navy makes the following recommendations to the general population during their visits to the beach: Don't go into the water after eating food or drinking alcoholic beverages; no littering; avoid dehydration by drinking adequate amounts of water; don't block access to the beaches to allow free movement of patrols and ambulances; and if you are on a boat, ask for your life jacket.
In case of emergency, these phone numbers are answered 24 hours/day, 365 days/year, 088, 01 998 877 0194, 01 555 677 7119 and 01 800 627 4621 or contact Naval personnel at the first aid station or the Civil Protection lifeguards.

ISLA MUJERES, 11 de julio.-
To find a solution to recent problems from a group of young vandals in the neighborhoods of La Gloria, Miraflores, and Canotal, City officials met with more than 20 parents from those neighborhoods. During the meeting on Friday evening, the Police Chief, Joaquin Poot Acosta, confirmed the arrest of three young adults for possession of narcotics who are allegedly associated with these activities and are allegedly the operatives behind the minors.
The municipal General Secretary, Cesar Poot Perez, acknowledged that there are two groups of young vandals, totaling about 50 youngsters, and he requested the support of residents in carrying out an operation to dismantle the two groups. They will be acting in accordance with the laws and requirements regarding youths between the ages of 12 and 18. He said they will act vigorously to restore peace and tranquility to the area, and discussed the legal measures, with their implications and consequences.
The officials attending the meeting included representatives from the following agencies: the City Legal department, the DIF Office for the Protection of Minors, one member of the City Council, the Judge Calificador for the municipal jail, the President of the Isla Mujeres Parents Association, Rogelio Zuniga Pulido, and a representative from the City Committee for Public Security, Jose Gonzalez.
