For the second time in less than a week, a disagreement (trifulca) took place between taxi drivers and  a foreigner who was transporting guests to their rental. The disagreements yesterday and the day before took place in the presence of dozens of tourists and taxi clients, which portrays a bad image for this vacation destination.
On both occasions, the taxi drivers 'bajaron de'  the foreigner's vehicle, which is a Chevy Suburban, with various overnight tourists already in the vehicle, without regard to the impression this was making on them, nor to those disembarking from the ferry and the local riders in general.
The taxi drivers say this is unfair competition, and that the foreigner is taking away taxi work without paying for permits or taxes to perform this activity. They want the relevant authorities to impose order upon these rentals, which offer amenities such as golf carts, cars, and now transportation to the guest house.

To date, youths involved with the Sea Turtle Protection program have rescued 11 nests with a total of 1205 eggs. Ten nests were of the Loggerhead species with a total of 1090 eggs and and one nest was of the Hawkbill species, with 115 eggs. Staff from the Tortugran has say that in even years, there are a greater number of turtles coming to the island to spawn, especially on the beaches of  Media Luna, Acapulquito, Hangar and across from the Trash Transfer Facility area.  The eggs are promptly rescued by staff to transfer them to the Tortugranja, which requires the support of a vehicle, since they must carry buckets of eggs to the facility on their own. The Tortugranja has a vehicle, and the reporter wonders why they do not designate a driver, to allow the staff to carry out this work more efficiently and comfortably.
