No change in ferry schedule (yet)
A group of volunteers collected litter from a beach area last week, but they lacked bags, and did not complete their good deed. Instead, they decided to leave the trash in a pile, near a curb along the roadway. The pile of inorganic waste and plastic became waterlogged, and is presenting a poor image to tourists who travel this perimeter road.
The Director of Public Services estimates their agency collects between 25 and 35 tonnes of trash daily, and during the holidays this doubles. The City is planning to invest in new garbage trucks, but this may take a few months. This new equipment should remedy the problems of slow service to several neighborhoods.

Businesses reported normal sales of products and services on the eve of Christmas eve. The merchants renting golf carts have been leasing their entire fleets since last week, which is expected to continue after the New Year.
Pharmacist Esther Chan Reyes reported an increase in sales of medications by fifty percent, due to an increase in respiratory illnesses, estimating that eight out of 10 customers are making purchases for this problem. She says women are their main customers, and other sales are for medications to control diabetes, cholesterol & triglycerides, and for stress, among others.
Florist Noe Santos say their business has only increased by 10%,  noting they have products available from 17 pesos to 250 pesos, including special arrangements. Their best sales occur on Feb. 14, May 10 (Mother's Day), and Day of the Dead.
The Harbor Master, Ismael Gonzalez said the weather is not expected to cause problems, and the port remains open, with good weather expected on Wednesday. Visitors are expected to be able to enjoy the beach, sun, and sea at this destination for tourists.

About twenty some yachts are involved with this activity in Isla Mujeres, and sail fishing season will continue until mid-March, with reservations to go out almost daily, said Rogelio Delgado, a boat captain. He said their first trip out is scheduled for Tuesday, but more are going out starting on the 28th.         Boats who are known for engaging in this specialized segment of affluent tourism for a decade, include the interviewee who is a captain of the boat Lilly M for the company Keen International. He said there are thousands of sailfish coming in from the Gulf of Mexico to feed on the large schools of sardines migrating into this area, with is a great experience for anglers from all over the world.
Visitors are arriving from the US, Europe, and other corners of the world to experience swimming with the sailfish, watching them closely as they feed on bait balls of sardines 15-20 miles northeast of Isla Mujeres.

Christmas: Day of healthy living
La Navidad, día de sana convivencia[+] Ver mas

In an interview prior to the Christmas Eve party, priest Jesus Martinez spoke about the importance of a healthy lifestyle during Christmas celebrations, noting that a desire to seek "happiness" can be related to alcohol abuse. He said that parents and families should be committed to reflections and meditations, adding that this is a time for changes, not excesses. The priest, who has recently completed fifty years of service will be conducting Masses at the Church of Immaculate Conception (But the only times given are for Tuesday night and Wednesday morn at 10am. It is my understanding that there will be a Mass at the downtown church at 11pm and at the Guadalupana Chapel in Salina Chica, by Mango Cafe, at 9 pm.) The reporter spoke briefly to priest  Raúl Sánchez Alonzo of the churches Sagrado Corazón de Jesús and la Capilla de  Guadalupe, as well as pastor Isaías Aguilar Fernández who has a small church in Caridad del Cobre. They spoke about Christmas as a time for harmony, peace, love, joy, and gratitude to Jesus Christ.

Christmas Eve 4 o'clock....Santa may get a little wet tonight. For sure his beard will be wind blown! Beautiful rainbow(s)

Tiffany Yenawine Wareing
We were in a parade on Saturday as Santa on vacation, his helpers, an elf & Rudolph. Every Christmas Eve after seeing friends & family, we drive around the Island looking at all the Christmas lights. There is no doubt, Santa will see the Island from his sleigh in the sky with all the beautifully decorated houses. We were such a hit on Saturday, that we will be in our costumes tonight with the elf & little helper tossing candy to their friends & the families of Isla Mujeres. Merry Christmas to all those Islaholics that celebrate this happy holiday!

Santa and his helpers stopped by on Christmas Eve for the best present ever...when your your gas tank goes empty on Christmas Eve, with no delivery possible until the 26th and a day of baking and Christmas dinner await, the best present is amazing friends that drop everything and bring you a tank of gas (and install it) in the Santa mobile nonetheless. Plus, bonus fashion show by Lior. Love you guys, thanks for saving the day(s)!!
