Cold front #14 is expected to affect navigation by small vessels through Thursday, so boaters are advised to pay attention to weather advisories. Residents are advised to be aware of high winds causing any effects on trees, billboards, structures, or cables, and are urged to stay warm when temperatures are dropping.

Yesterday's drop of temperatures caused people to wear coats, hats, and gloves, and even the foreigners accustomed to colder temperatures were wearing jackets. Some tourists were visiting the stores and restaurants, but water related activities were suspended.

FOR ALL YOU ISLA FOLKS MARK THE DATE
Hola dear friends,
Please save this date and time: Tuesday, December 17th, 4:00 P.M.-6:00 P.M.
Place: Brisas Grill in El Centro
Happening: A special holiday fiesta and concert to raise pesos to buy little Christmas gifts for children of some of the struggling single-parent families in Guadalupana.
Entertainment: Ken Wanovich, a popular singer/song writer who has just released a Christmas CD entitled "Give It Away" with five original songs inspired by time spent here on Isla Mujeres, will provide fun-filled entertainment while we enjoy a buffet dinner. At the end of the fiesta each attendee will receive one of Ken's CDs as a special way of saying "thank you". We will also hold a raffle for a private home concert to be given by Ken in February/March.
"Secret Santa" Gift Plan: With the help of local residents, we have identified 20 single parent families in Guadalupana whose children will be surprised with a little regalito (gift) on Christmas day. We have arranged for the parents to secretly gift wrap the regalitos and then hide them away. When the children receive their gift, it will be from their parents. We secret Santas will have the pleasure of knowing we've added to the joy of Christmas for these parents and children alike.
Donation: $250 pesos ( buffet and CD included)
Tickets: Advance reservations will ensure your place at the fiesta and enable us to give an accurate head count to the people at Brisas who are preparing the buffet. Tickets will soon be available. Please email Robb and Sally at robbsals@sbcglobal.net to let us know if we can have the pleasure of your company.
Friends: Please pass this email along to five of your friends in the Isla community. Together we can make a difference for the children on Christmas day.
With heartfelt thanks and best wishes for a happy holiday season, Robb & Sally Sals

Kate Bahnsen: Bonnie Hamilton and mariza have been doing a toy drive via PEACE for the last few years and distributing, I believe it is on again this year. Drop Toy donations at La Galerita opposite Olivia if you can't make it the buffet evening.
When it was suggested that something similar should be done for kids in Isla, I clarified that "Guadalupana" refers to the Isla Mujeres colonia by that name, also know as La Invasion, where this charity focuses. And gave their link:
On the Islaholics site, they are playing..Guess This Place?...
Who can guess correctly the 4 different restaurants I was at?
Answer....
Jackie Conlon: The dessert plate is at Lolo's. The fruit and yogurt is Rooster's. The fish with the rice and salad is at Miguel's. Filet mignon is Bastos, when it was served w a baked potato. The thread evolved into opinions about where to eat steak.

I am gathering information on each of the Isla Mujeres charities, planning to publish it in one place for The Isla Mujeres Magazine. The Magazine will feature contributions from a variety of writers and photographers, and six issues are planned for 2014, if the first issue is a success. Advertisers chose their favorite Isla Charity and 100% is donated. Today I worked on LYSH.
