ISLA MUJERES, 4 de julio.-
The state government has announced that the dry law will begin at
midnight Friday and end at midnight Sunday. The Director of the
Enforcement & Auditing agency, Mario Chable Espinoza explained that
establishments located in tourist areas of the municipality shall be authorized to sell alcoholic beverages during the hours of prohibition, provided they are licensed to sell alcoholic beverages with food and they may only provide that service to domestic and international tourists. They may not sell alcohol to residents and will be punished with closure if caught.Leer más...

ISLA MUJERES, 4 de julio.-
The 130 Public Safety (police) officers will be available to respond to any requests by IEQROO to guarantee safe and peaceful elections, with the Navy available for support, to ensure public order during Sunday's elections, both on the island and the mainland.
However past experience indicates that the people of Isla Mujeres are
aware of the importance of exercising their right to vote in a peaceful
manner.

Increased efforts to fight the mosquito that transmits Dengue
The State Secretary of Health said as a result of the rains there has been an increase in cases of Dengue across the state, and beginning on Monday they are increasing efforts of intensive spraying across the state, beginning in the northern areas of Benito Juarez (Cancun) and Isla Mujeres. He said as of Week 24 there were 622 confirmed cases in the state, compared to about 250 cases last year. So far in Isla Mujeres there have been ten cases in the municipality of Isla Mujeres. (In recent years, more cases in Isla Mujeres occurred on the mainland than on the island)

The CFE (Electrical Commission) replaced a post in front of our villa on Thursday, and today there were three Cablemas trucks out front working on those lines...and our WIFI has been out since they arrived.. They should be back manana to finish working on the lines out front. Hasta luego!
